Boarding

At Ludgrove, we are firm believers in the benefits of the boarding experience and by living together in a close community, the boys are able to build up their self-confidence, community spirit and appreciation of others. They learn to develop a strong set of values, good manners and a balanced outlook on life. Our boys take with them to public school happy memories of fun in the dormitory, on the playing fields or in the classroom and friendships are made for life.

All boys are kept under the close eye of the Headmasters and their wives, who together with the boarding housemaster, are directly responsible for their pastoral care.

Mr and Mrs Barber and their young family live in the heart of the school and they create a home-from-home atmosphere upstairs. All staff play a part in pastoral care and they each take their turn to be up in the dormitories. They take huge trouble to get to know the boys well and to ensure that life upstairs is both happy and fun.

The boys sleep in bright and spacious dormitories and there is plenty of opportunity to add a personal touch with posters, photographs and an abundance of teddy bears! A rolling programme of redecoration is underway and the bathrooms were exapnded and completely rennovated in the summer of 2009.

Our wonderful team of matrons takes care of all the boys' needs upstairs, whether it be a medical issue, a clean set of clothes or a lost teddy bear. They all live amongst the dormitories and work hard to ensure that the boys feel happy, secure and valued.
