Diet and Nutrition

Here at Ludgrove we believe that providing a balanced and wholesome menu is paramount. Good fresh food, locally sourced is a truly unique aspect of the school. We have the ability to choose our suppliers and are not forced by contract to use nominated suppliers. This gives us the flexibility to use the best available ingredients.

Fresh meats, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, eggs and bakery goods are delivered daily and of the highest quality. They are also seasonally adjusted for menus.

We offer all the classic range of traditional fare as well as worldwide cuisine. All lunches and puddings are home-made and not from packet mixes. Pastries and sponges are made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Sausages, for instance, are still traditionally hand made by our butcher. Branded products are used in preference to cheaper brands. In essence our food and products purchased are the typical family shop, but obviously on a much larger scale. This retains the home-from-home feeling.

Our two qualified chefs, Gaye and Nathalie, take great pride in their work. They are supported by the ladies in the kitchen who have catering backgrounds. The pantry and dining room staff liaise to make sure all the food is collected and served correctly. It is a real team effort. We are always keen to try new ideas and the Food Committee, made up of two boys from each year group, meet with us once a term to give us welcome feedback and menu suggestions.
