Pastoral Care

We believe that our pastoral care for the boys is second to none. We value each boy as an individual and our primary aim is that he is happy and fulfilled during his time with us. We encourage the boys to work hard and enjoy the challenges presented by each subject. We hope that they will become involved in all areas of school life and they will each find varied and stimulating interests.

We have a carefully structured pastoral system in place, which centres round the Division (Form) Master or Mistress, who is responsible for the academic and pastoral welfare of the boys in their charge. They take time to get to know each boy well and they identify individual strengths, needs or concerns. A pastoral care file for each Division is exchanged between the Division Masters and the Headmasters, which ensures that all the boys' pastoral care needs are met. We get to know the boys well and there is an excellent rapport between staff and boys.

Every morning we have a Division Master's period, during which the boys get themselves set up for the day and it is a time when important current affairs issues are discussed. Every Division has a daily newspaper delivered and a weekly current affairs quiz keeps them up-to-date with important events going on around the world.

Parents' meetings for different year groups are arranged each term and these provide parents with the opportunity to discuss matters with subject teachers and the Headmasters. At the end of each term parents receive full reports on each subject and the Division Masters and Headmasters add their overall view of how the term has gone.

The caring and homely atmosphere at Ludgrove enables each boy to feel secure, relaxed and valued. The boys make excellent friends and they are always busy and involved. There is always someone to turn to for help or advice.
