School Cross Country
All the boys
competed in the cross- country races on Sunday 7th February with
great enthusiasm – and a bit of fear.
The juniors ran a
mile and a half: it was a high quality race with young Henry Read running
magnificently to retain his title. The race for the minor places was won by Ned
Holland -Hibbert and then Tom Rutherford took 3rd place. The
inter-set race was even closer, with Haig (164) beating Drake (166) by just 2
points.
The senior race
proved a great endurance battle with the fearless Marcus Bird going from the
gun, pushing the pace all the way: he was matched every inch of the way by
Julius Manton-Jones, who followed until the final 100m where he over took to
take the title. Boscawen won his
tussle with Buckner for third place. Special mention must also go to Columbus O'Donnell
for coming 6th, despite being one of the youngest in the race. There were many
other fine performances that can be seen in the complete set of results attached below.
Our next cross-country
fixture is at Lambrook Haileybury on Thursday.
