Junior Woodwind Masterclass

The VIs were given their third instrumental workshop on Friday 30th April by Simon Carr, our woodwind teacher, who brought along his vast collection of instruments to give the boys an insight into the woodwind family.

Mr. Carr gave a history of the woodwind family and demonstrated the oboe, cor-Anglais, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto-saxophone, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone and baritone saxiphone. The boys were interested to hear about the different reeds needed to play and how the different shapes of the instruments determine the sound. The boys responded very well and asked some keen and interesting questions about how the sound was produced and the history of some of the instruments.

Now that we have had all three instrumental workshops, parents of boys who are keen to take part in the instrumental tuition trial are welcome to contact WDJG. The relevant information can be found behind the parents login page.
