The Weekend: 27th-28th February
After a fun half term
with their families and friends, the boys have thrown themselves back into
school life and this weekend was no exception. The weather continued to be cold and wet, but this did
little to dampen the boy’s huge enthusiasm for their matches against Cothill on
Saturday. A number of boys from
throughout the school also took part in a local Inter Schools Judo competition,
many returning with medals and some with cups too.
Sunday was an
exceptionally busy day with boys coming and going all day for various
activities. Shortly after
breakfast 12 cross country runners left for the National Championships at
Malvern with Mr Buckner, returning early evening, tired but having had a great
day.
For chapel this weekend, we
were joined by Mr Mark Ridgway, a Housemaster from Harrow who entertained us
all with his sermon. Sadly the
Sevens Tournament at Moulsford was cancelled, but 16 top year boys had a great
time at Heathfield St Marys, where they had lunch and a barn dance with live
band and ‘caller’.
A number of other boys
also went to the Madejski stadium in Reading where they saw a very exciting
match, London Irish v Harlequins.
Elsewhere in the school there were birthday outings, five-a-side
football and dodge-ball in the Sports Hall, swims, a senior and junior film,
and the Carpentry department was buzzing.
The day finished with
a very successful evening choral rehearsal for Vivaldi’s Gloria, and an
exciting end to Mrs Barber’s book in Sixes Stories.
Another happy
weekend.
