Wiggin Cup Football 2011

This was a tense, tight match that looked as though it would remain very even as we approached half time, only for Wiggin to produce a stunning left footed shot which went in off the underside of the bar.
In the second half, the boys attacked with more intent, scoring twice early on. The game became more expansive as the old boys charged forward 2-2 … 3- 2 … 3-3: various scorers were responsible (probably some Wiggins or Cuthberts).
As the game became even more open, the boys (who had the edge on fitness) started rattling in the goals and the old boys became ever more gung-ho 4-3 … 5- 3 … 6 - 3 … 7 -3 to the boys.
An Elvin hat-trick, an Anson brace and Pearson and Cunningham-Reid finishing off the scoring. As we approached full- time, the extra time board was raised for what turned out to be a further 28 minutes.
By the end, respectability had been restored with a final score of 7 - 6.This was a great afternoon for all involved although I suspect there were a few aching limbs the next day.
