A choice of fresh fruit and yoghurt are available at every meal. We strive to offer (the five a day) fruit & vegetables, often hiding vegetables within the main dish. At lunchtime we are now offering freshly made soups, which are proving to be very popular. Following the food committee meetings, we continue to add more variety to the menu and try to offer more choices where possible.
NB:
At most lunches a homemade rice pudding is offered as an extra hot pudding.
Wholemeal bread & butter is served at every tea.
Preserves & condiments offered at various mealtimes are: Strawberry jam, Marmite, Bovril, Gales honey, Cadburys chocolate spread, Coleman’s mustard, HP sauce, Heinz tomato ketchup, Hellmann’s mayonnaise.
Every evening (depending on their year group) the boys are also offered:
Robinson’s squash and a selection of biscuits, a choice of branded cereals with whole milk, toast with butter and preserve selection.
Butcher: Brian McLeish, is a local independent butchers. Brian & Steve have been supplying meat directly to the school for many years and make our Sunday sausages especially for us. The quality is superb, which explains his popularity in Wokingham and beyond.
Greengrocer: D & S Fletcher, Dean & Stuart are following in their Grandfather’s footsteps by continuing the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables five days a week. They visit Covent Garden daily to purchase our orders. Our consumption of fruit and vegetables has increased by 34% in the last year!
Dairy: All milk is whole fat and delivered daily by Dairy Crest. We purchase pergals of milk, each containing 24 pints, our average weekly consumption is 1500 pints. They also supply our bread which is 50/50 wholemeal.
Eggs: Mr White sources our eggs locally, we consume on average 450 eggs per week, in freshly made cakes, puddings and scrambled eggs.
Yoghurt: Turners Dairy, Myrtlegrove Farm, Worthing. Turner’s are a small family run firm who mainly supply the air passenger industry, and local schools with high quality, non preservative, non additive, yoghurts. They have won numerous awards for their products.
Dry Stores & frozen products: 3663. We are a TLC customer and receive deliveries 2-3 times per week, for what is technically a massive home shop.
