Van Straubenzee Carol Service 2019Links in this section
Last night, the 20-strong Ludgrove chapel choir travelled to London to sing in the annual Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund carol service.
Despite the draw of a meal at Pizza Express, it really was the carol service itself that was the highlight of the evening! Our head chorister, George, started the service off with an unaccompanied solo for the first verse of Once In Royal David’s City, before our chapel choir entertained the 800-strong congregation with carols by Rutter and Chilcott.
The evening also featured the singers from St Luke’s, Chelsea, alongside guest soloist Katherine Jenkins, as well as readings from Ed Chamberlin, The Rt. Hon Sir Nicholas Soames, and our very own Simon Barber!
As a longstanding event in the Ludgrove calendar, we were all very pleased to return this year and take part in what was an exceptional service. Huge thanks go to Mr Bellingham for his sensitive accompanying, and to all their boys for such responsive and focussed singing.
