Visiting Music Teacher (Strings)

Links in this section

We are looking to appoint an outstanding string teacher with a proven track record in inspiring and developing young musicians. The position will commence in January 2020.

The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching students from Year 4 to Year 8 on an individual basis, as well as helping to develop and encourage ensemble playing across the school.

There is a strong enthusiasm for music at Ludgrove, and exam results and performances are often excellent. The successful candidate will be asked to direct a growing string ensemble as part of their expected commitments.

The post holder will be engaged on a zero-hours basis and will be expected to be available for approximately one full day per week, term time only. Initially teaching will be violin only, though it is likely that some ‘cello teaching will become available after the Easter holidays 2020. Our Visiting Music Teachers benefit from an excellent package including competitive rates of pay, pension contributions, holiday and sick-pay (pro-rata), and refreshments/use of the staff common room.

Ludgrove is an outstanding school with a vibrant co-curricular programme, set in 130 acres of beautiful grounds. Just 30 minutes West of the M25, Ludgrove is easily accessible by car.

Closing date: Tuesday 5th November at 5pm

Interviews: Week Commencing 11th November

Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and Ludgrove reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Please send your completed application to the Director of Music, Gordon Waterson, at gw@ludgrove.com. Mr Waterson is happy to be contacted with any queries about the role.
